Actually My Name's Marina

Photobucket
I stumbled across this little lady a while back, and instantly fell in love. There's just something about her distinctive voice, which has been compared to Kate Bush amongst others. She's also got a great style and she's not afraid to take risks, so you'll probably see her rocking some sequins.

I'll leave you with a lovely acoustic version of her latest song Hollywood. Just check out the shoulders on her jumper...
p.s some of you have mentioned that you can't comment on the blog. I tried to sort it out, so let me know if you still can't comment :)

Burberry A/W oh ten

I absolutely loved this collection. Sadly I wasn't sat on the front row but we managed to catch the live streaming in the office. With us five girls huddled around the little screen, it was just like being there... ha.
I loved all the cosy coats and sheepskin which is a good thing if this winter is anything to go by. There seemed to be a lot of uniform inspired items, and I even like the palette of navy and browns. Oh and if someone could buy me those black buckle boots with the sheepskin. I've been really good, thanks.
What did you think?

ALEXA

Phew Alexa's had a busy month, we've seen her on the cover of this Month's vogue and now she's just released her collection for Madewell.
She's a style icon in her own right, and what with having a handbag named after her, it was only a matter of time before she got her finger in the designing pie.
The collection itself is not very original however it does sum up the Alexa style that we all love.
I love the laid back feel, with it's mix of denim and a neutral palette, and could definitely see many of the items in my wardrobe - a girl can dream.
Here are a few of my favourite looks:

What are your thoughts on the collection?

Grr, this cold weather won't seem to shift.
I'm all confused, the magazines are telling us we should all be wearing our best floaty frocks and sandals but the weather has other ideas.
What with LFW just around the corner, I've found myself coveting a winter wardrobe.
I found this outfit on Stolkholm Streetstyle and I now long for the perfect leopard print coat to wear with my black skinnies. I love the little bowtie ribbon on the shirt collar too.

Emily Goes Nude

Emily Blunt for the LA Times.
How pretty does she look here. I love how fresh the editorial looks, and how chic all the outfits look. I am getting a little obsessed with the nude palette. I purchased the perfect little pinky/beige bag at the weekend. With discount off at H&M I couldn't resist. It's soft and slouchy and makes me dream of the warmer weather.

Luvvly Jubbly

I'd been looking forward to this weekend for ages, since leaving uni I don't get to see the boy very often so I cherish these little weekends.
We didn't plan anything as usual, but ended up spending the Sunday in Brighton. We had to get up early, which is hard when you're used to your Sunday lie-ins. It was absolutely freezing, but we still managed to end up sitting on the beach - well until it started to rain.
On the pier we had a go on the Dolphin Derby and I ended up winning ha! I took home a lovely French looking Bear called Pierre.
I've only been to Brighton a handful of times, but I've never had time to rummage in the treasure troves along the Laines. The little vintage shops look less pretentious than those I've ventured into in London, and the prices seem alot cheaper too. I can't wait to go back.
I hope you all had a nice weekend, whether you had a special someone to enjoy it with or simply just spending time with your best girl friends.

BOOTYLICIOUS

What with the drab weather over this weekend, I was delighted to see this floral booties brighten up my computer screen this afternoon.
The humble Dr Marten has been given a fresh makeover this spring with the release of it's 1460 boot in a pretty rose print. It's the perfect mix of masculine and feminine.
I don't think I'm brave enough to wear them though, but If I were I would defiantely team with some denim and re-live the nineties ha.
Available online and from the Neal Street and Spitalfields stores.

PREPARE THE SAILS

Now I want to introduce you all to an amazing band. They're all great friends of mine and I have a huge amount of love for them. The foursome are collectively known as Burn The Fleet, and they've been described as "putting Thrice and Funeral For a Friend in a jar with wasps and shaking it", but you can see for yourselves here.
I've lost count how many times I've seen them live, and yet I still get that excited feeling before one of their shows. Ok, that might just be because I'm about to see my boyfriend thrash around the stage with his guitar.
Either way, these guys put on an amazing performance, which always results in the audience singing along to crowd pleaser "Handfuls of Sand". I strongly recommend you go see them if they're playing near you.
And if you like what you hear, you can also pre order their EP here. Each pre-order copy comes with a handmade (and hand numbered) booklet with bonus artwork, song lyrics and a piece explaining the meanings behind the tracks.
I'll leave you with their latest track - "The Greatest Fire" :)

For the love of ....

The third issue of Love is finally out next week, and I was in complete shock to see who they'd chosen for the cover. The debut issue featured Beth Ditto which was a controversial choice, and this one is no exception.
Issue three is the Fashion Icons issue and there's eight different covers to choose from. Each featuring a different model baring all, who represent the ideal of beauty in fashion today - including Kate Moss, Lara Stone and Naomi Campbell.
I was a little disappointed with the last issue, so let's hope this one is a little better. Which cover will you choose?

Florals

After spotting this blazer on this lovely lady, I've had a sudden craving to find my own floral version. It would look great teamed with a plain tee and skinny jeans. Perfect.
Danni's version is from Topshop

But I've also found some other alternatives

ALEXA

I love a bit of Alexa and now you can see her gracing the cover of this month's Vogue. I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with Vogue, but I think I can forgive them this time.
