An Education

I can't believe it took me so long to watch this, but by gosh I loved it - and not just because I love the gorgeous face of Dominic Cooper.

Everything about this movie was amazing, from the the way it was shot and of course the fantastic costumes.

There's just something about that old school glamour I fall for every time. I'm off to perfect my up-do....

Domestic Goddess

I've started reading 'The Undomestic Goddess' by Sophie Kinsella, and although thoroughly enjoying it (I'm a huge fan of the Shopaholic series too!) I can't help but to begin to wonder that I am all too similar to the lead character - Samantha.
Ok, so I'm definitley not a high flying lawyer who's recently lost my job, but much like Samantha I struggle to complete even some of the most menial house work tasks. Actually, now I think about it... it's more of case of 'won't do it' rather than 'can't. So after living on my own for three years, you'd think I'd be pretty competent cooking for myself. Wrong. The most complex dish I can rustle up is pasta... oh and some ready made Dolmio.
So I've set myself the task of cooking meals from scratch.... that means no more jars, and definitely no more micowave meals!
Last night was the the first run, and so I made fajita's. It was pretty easy, and there was even some left over to take to work for my lunch today - so I'm saving money too!
So far so good!
How are you all in the kitchen?

I'll leave you with some food porn....

Goth Girls go to Givenchy

I'm definitely not a 'Goth Girl' by any stretch of the imagination..... but I'd really like one of these.

One in Grey please....

Girl from the city

The latest issue of ASOS magazine features no other than New York socialite, Olivia Palermo, but now she's so much more than that - fashion icon, 'reality' TV star and model Olivia has only gone and landed her first British magazine cover!

Ever since watching her on 'The City', everything about her made me dislike her. All, apart from her impeccable style that is. She always seems to look effortlessly chic, and this spread doesn't disappoint. Olivia poses in dark, muted and earthy tones - the key colour palette for next season on location in Brooklyn, which provides the perfect backdrop. She also makes Converse trainers look glamorous whilst teamed with a white shift dress!

Love her, or hate her, I think this shoot just proves that there's much more to Olivia than just the affluent socialite portrayed on 'The City'

He's in Fashion

To celebrate the last installment of the Toy Story filmsEsquire has  the brilliant idea to photograph Barbie's boyfriend Ken for a 6 page fashion spread.

The plastic male has bagged himself a starring role in the movies so it was only a matter of time before he was snapped up for some modelling too.

The editorial sees Ken get a makeover from the Esquire team in the hottest designer fashions for Autumn/Winter like Burberry ProrsumGucciPaul Smith, and Prada.

Catch Ken in the August issue, which goes on sale July 21st.

Hit me with lightning

Absolutely loving the weather we're seeing at the moment. My past two weekends have just consisted of football, ice cold cider and sitting in the park. Bliss.

I miss the summer holidays, I hate being all grown up and actually having to work during the week. At least we have a roof terrace at work, which is where you will find me during the whole of my lunch hour!

I have been trying to top up my tan as it doesnt look likely i'll be hitting the beach any time soon. However, although my arms are a nice golden brown, my legs still resemble milk bottles grr! Back to the old johnsons for me then.

I've made a summer playlist on spotify to cheer me up in the office, you can check it out here

The last two remind me of last summer, I wish I could go back. Oh well, we just need to make this one even better

What are you listening to?

You are a radar detector

Uhoh I've been absent from my blog for too long - I even missed it's first birthday! so happy belated blog birthday!

I've been so busy working and enjoying all this lovely weather we've been having, so thanks to Charley for reminding me to get back on the blog wagon.
I have been concentrating on the Summer issue of Cellardoor which is out in the next few days. I'm so excited!

Here are some pretty things to keep you going until the next post!

I love Summer Evenings!

The sun's got his hat on

Wow, absolutely loving the British weather at the moment! I'm even braving bare legs- that's right the milk bottles are out in full swing!
However, all this good weather is not making working in an office any easier. The team have resorted to working on the roof terrace in the afternoon. All we need now is the beer!

Things are starting to slow down a bit now, finally getting into the swing of working full time and not having to work weekends anymore. Which of course means afternoons spent sunbathing and evenings spent in beer gardens - fingers crossed the weather stays!

I've been helping on a few magazine projects for the past few weeks, so expect a post dedicated to that soon. Oh, and in other news, I awoke yesterday to greet a cheery postman at my door with a special present in his hand. I'd already received my subscription copy of ELLE so wondered what that magazine shaped package could be? Inside there was a letter telling me I had won a limited edition copy of the May issue illustrated by Garance Dore. I was so chuffed, I didn't even remember entering!

So what's cheered you up this week? Oh and here's the cover in all it's glory. Enjoy the sun!

Guns and horses

Hope you're all having a lovely bank holiday (despite the rain!). I've spent the weekend in Southampton to celebrate my birthday, and to catch up with a few old uni friends. It was lovely to see all their faces and to party in our old haunt - KAOS. The next morning I was treated a lovely breakfast in a sweet little tearoom by the boy and finished the day off with a spot of shopping.

I've also been working on the latest edition of Cellardoor Magazine for the last few weeks, and my inspiration folder is now bulging with lots of lovely images. So I thought it was about time I shared some of them with you, starting with this one:
